The Cruise Ship: Carnival Splendor
It’s hard to tell which onboard space best represents Carnival Splendor — they all seem to hint at the amazing time you’re going to have. El Morocco Lounge hosts comedy shows, musical performances, karaoke and more… and wears its 1930s namesake clearly on its nameplate. The words “Royal Flush Casino” incite visions of winning, while our onboard jazz club — The Cool — simply says it all without saying a word. And Fahrenheit 555™ can be found not only at the height of elegant dining, but at the actual apex of the ship.
If you like your fun to flow, there are options aplenty. If you list “splishing” and “splashing” among your favorite things to do, there’s Carnival WaterWorks™. Those into sitting and sliding are invited to try the all-new Green Lightning thrill-slide. How about floating or swimming around? Carnival Splendor has pools all over the place, including the midship pool featuring a retractable roof that makes any day a pool day. So whether you splish or splash, you’ll find hydro-excitement galore.
If relaxation is your thing, Serenity Adult-Only Retreat™ is more your place. Or if you’re looking to take relaxation to the extreme, direct your attention to the Cloud 9 Spa™, featuring more (and better) ways to kick back than just about anywhere else, on land or at sea. You haven’t lived until you’ve relaxed in a Thalassotherapy pool, or chilled — so to speak — in a dry heat chamber.

Day 2: 21st June 2026 At Sea |
Morning 8.30am to 9.30am: Real Wounds, Real Nurses, Real Life In this session, we’ll look at the real challenges nurses face when managing wounds. We’ll unpack why wound management has become overcomplicated. Let’s explore your wound care challenges, what do you really want to know and what works in practice! No jargon. No fluff. Just practical wound care that makes sense. 9.30am to 10.30am: Simplicity for Wound Management Before we can manage wounds well, we need to understand how they heal — and why sometimes, they don’t. In this session, we’ll start with an overview of the fundamentals of wound healing and explore what causes some wounds to stall or become chronic. We’ll look at different wound types and link them directly to the clinical settings you work in. The session will bust a few myths & legends we encounter in wound management – does honey cure everything, betadine is bad for wounds or ocean swimming helps healing! 10.30 to 11.00am: Break 11.00am to 1pm: Taking a Practical Approach to Wound Assessment Wound assessment doesn’t need to be overcomplicated — in fact, the more practical and consistent your approach, the better the outcomes. In this session, we will look at wound assessment in a practical way, and we’ll focus on some of the most common wounds you’re likely to manage and explore practical skin care. We’ll explore how to assess the most common wound types you’re likely to encounter — and what clues they give you about underlying issues. You’ll also learn how to assess the peri-wound skin properly, because it often holds vital information about what’s going wrong or right in the healing process. Is it macerated? Dry? Fragile? What you see around the wound is just as important as the wound itself. Finally, we’ll cover wound measurement and photography — not just the ‘how’, but the ‘why’. Accurate measurements and good-quality images help track progress, justify your dressing choices, and communicate clearly with the wider healthcare team. 1pm to 2.30pm: Lunch 2.30pm to 4.30pm: Clean it Like you Mean it | O dear, Oedema! A Hands-on Workshop In this session, we will focus on practical wound bed preparation. This will include a hands-on workshop in therapeutic wound cleansing strategies. We will also explore the new therapeutic wound cleansing guidelines to ensure your practice is current and you have access to the correct products to achieve the best results. Then it’s time to talk about oedema in an interactive workshop. You’ll learn how to recognise it, understand its impact on wound healing, and learn a practical approach to managing it safely. You can expect real-world examples, group discussion, and plenty of practical tips you can take straight back to your team. 6pm – 7pm: Optional Social Get Together Join us at the designated meeting spot to catch up and discuss the events of the day. The conference Facilitators and Presenter will be at the venue to answer any of your queries. |
Day 3: 22nd June 2026 Tangalooma, Moreton Island |

Day 4: 23rd June 2026 At Sea |
8.30am to 10.30am: Addressing the Dressing With hundreds of dressing options on the market, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and make the process overcomplicated. In “Addressing the Dressing,” we simplify the chaos. You’ll get crystal-clear insight into the main dressing categories — what they do, when to use them, and how to make the right call without falling into marketing traps. In this interactive workshop, we’ll explore the different dressing categories available in Australia and how and when not to use them. Most importantly, you’ll learn simple rules for product selection that make sense — no sales pitch, no nonsense. Just clinical confidence, cost-effective choices, and better outcomes for your patients. 10.30am to 11am: Break 11am to 12pm: Dressing Products and Tissue Type: Match What You See to What You Use Not one dressing fits all wounds that you will come across. In this session, the focus is on wound tissue and the dressing products available to manage a particular tissue type. In this interactive workshop session, we’ll cut through the confusion surrounding product choice and show you how to select the right dressing for the job, based on what the wound actually needs, which is why assessment is so crucial. You need to choose a product that matches the tissue type, not the dressing that is on special or sitting on the shelf. 12pm to 1pm: All about the “I’s” in Wound Management Two of the most significant barriers to wound healing are infection and inflammation. They’re often confused, sometimes missed, and frequently mismanaged. In this one-hour session, we’ll explore the key differences between infection and inflammation, as understanding these distinctions is crucial for selecting the appropriate response. We’ll cover practical strategies for managing both inflammation and infection based on the current clinical guidelines. The session also includes an antimicrobial products workshop, where you can explore products and discuss their applications. 1pm to 2.30pm: Lunch Break 2.30pm to 4.30pm: Products to Debride – How Do You Decide? (And Don’t Forget the Wound That’s Wet!) This hands-on workshop uses real case scenarios to explore the practical aspects of managing non-viable tissue. We’ll examine the key products used for debridement — what they do, when to use them, and, just as importantly, when to hold back. You’ll get clarity on what’s appropriate, what’s not, and why. We’ll take a practical approach to the management of wet wounds. The aim for wound healing is to keep things moist, not macerated. The products available to assist in managing a wet wound will be reviewed. If you’ve ever stood at the dressing cupboard wondering, “What’s the best option here?” — this session is what you have been waiting for. 6pm to 7pm: Farewell Function Join us for a Conference farewell drinks function to celebrate our time together. Conference photo will be taken (via iPhone!) if you are interested during this event. |
