The Two Key Clinical Aspects in the Care of The Aged Clients

This conference will focus on two key aspects of Nursing Service delivery in the care of the older person. Both have significant impact on care delivery, from skill mix requirements through to staffing and budget allocation, as well as quality of life experience for the clients concerned.

The two key aspects of Nursing Service delivery in the care of the older person on which this conference will focus are Wound Care Management in the older adult and Mental Health Problems in the older person.

SUE WALKER
R.N., BACH NURSING (Admin), M.P.H.C. (Palliative Care), MACN

Specialist Nurse Educator

Sue Walker is a Director and co-founder of the Nurses for Nurses Network and the Nursing CPD Institute. As a Nurse Education Consultant Sue is a member of the Education Governance Committee of the Institute as well as a key contributor to the online education platform Continuing Professional Development library.

As a Registered Nurse Sue holds Degrees in Nursing and Health Administration, a Master’s Degree in Primary Health Care majoring in Palliative Care, as well as a number of certificate courses in Psychiatry of Ageing, Gerontology, Chemotherapy Administration, Training and Assessment, and is also an Accredited Mental Health First Aid Trainer.

Sue has extensive experience both as a clinician, educator, and senior manager in the acute, aged care, community, and palliative care settings. Sue is passionate about making a difference to the way in which people experience the health care system.

Day 1: Sunday 17th May
Departure: Seattle

Make sure you are up on deck to be a part of the “setting sail” festivities as we say farewell to Seattle.

Evening: Enjoy a chance to mingle and have a drink with the other attendees at the Conference Registration.

Day 2: Monday 18th May
Cruising : At Sea

This is a full Conference Day where we explore a morning of Wound Management and an afternoon of Mental Health and the Older Adult.

 
Day 3: Tuesday 19th May
Juneau

This is a full Conference Day where we explore a morning of Wound Management and an afternoon of Mental Health and the Older Adult.

This afternoon you get to explore the capital city of Alaska – Juneau.

Day 4: Wednesday 20th May
Skagway

Skagway rarely disappoints visitors. A seven-block corridor along Broadway features historic false-front shops and restaurants, wooden sidewalks, locals in period costumes and restored buildings, many of which are part of the National Park Service-managed Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park.

Day 5: Thursday 21st May
Glacier Bay

This is a full Conference Day where we explore a morning of Wound Management in the Older Adult.

Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve has become the crown jewel in the itinerary of many cruise-ship and independent travellers.

Day 6: Friday 22nd May
Ketchikan

Enjoy the morning to explore Ketchikan. Ketchikan, Alaska is truly the beginning of the last frontier. Set at the southernmost entrance to Alaska’s famed Inside Passage—a network of waterways that snake through some of the most jaw-droppingly beautiful wilderness in the world—Ketchikan is best known for three things: feisty salmon, idyllic scenery, and an incredibly rich Alaska Native culture.

This is a full Conference Day where we explore a morning of Wound Management in the Older Adult.

Day 7: Saturday 23rd May
Victoria, Canada

This is a full Conference Day where we explore a morning of Mental Health in the older client.

Evening: Enjoy this opportunity to mingle with the other attendees at the complimentary drinks and Conference Registration function.
