Party Drugs – The Fun, the Risk and the Legality

South Pacific

Celebrity Solstice | Departing Sydney

16 March – 24 September 2020
Outline

Party Drugs – The fun, the Risk and the Legality

For most people using drugs is another way to become social – a way to relax, a way to enjoy the party. In the Australian context, we have a prohibition on certain substances where others become enshrined in our collective cultural Psyche.

Health care workers need to be able to respond to patients who may have ingested part drugs and are now experiencing side effects. Health Care Workers should also take the opportunity to educate clients on pharmacology safety – whether legal or not. There is no point in denying the issue the aim is to enhance safety and prevent unnecessary deaths.

In this Conference we will explore Party Drugs. Who is using them, what are they using, how are they using them, what are the safety issues surrounding use, is drug dependence an issue, does prohibition work, should pill testing be considered? The social framework that surrounds the use of party drug will be explored including an increase in sexually transmitted disease, drug facilitated sexual assault, and the issue of mental health
