Nursing fundamentals refer to the essential principles, skills, and knowledge that form the basis of nursing practice. They encompass a wide range of foundational concepts and abilities that nurses must master to provide safe, effective, and therapeutic care to patients. These essential principles change based on the latest Research and this conference will update this core knowledge to reflect what is expected in 2025.

Some of the key components of nursing fundamentals that will be explored in this conference program include:

Patient safety, effective communication, latest infection control guidelines, critical thinking, ethical and legal awareness, cultural competence, leadership and teamwork, and Medication Management. These key components improve patient outcomes and enhances the overall healthcare experience.

Additionally, our presenter will explore the concepts of finding joy in the work, managing the response to workplace stress, and
developing great relationships in the workplace.

This will include a workshop focusing on stress management techniques and strategies to promote the clinician’s psychological health.

SUE WALKER
RN., BACH NURSING, M.P.H.C.,MACN

Sue is the director and co-founder of the Nurses for Nurses Network. Sue is a key contributor to the online education platform Nursing CPD – a Continuing Professional Development platform to assist Nurses in meeting their annual CPD requirements.

As a Registered Nurse, Sue holds Degrees in both Nursing and Health Administration, a Master’s Degree in Public Health, as well as a number of certificate courses in Psychiatry of Ageing, Gerontology, Chemotherapy Administration, and Training and Assessment. She is also an Accredited Mental Health First Aid Trainer, Mindfulness Practitioner, and Clinical Supervisor.

Sue has extensive experience as a clinician, educator, and senior manager. She has presented at local and international conferences on many topics including, key issues in healthcare, such as the psychological impact of the work that Nurses do and how the work requirements to deliver healthcare impact the health of the clinician. Other topics presented comprise of Nursing Leadership, Emergency Management, Mental health, Aged Care, Advanced Life Support, Assertiveness, Grief and Loss, and Workplace Bullying.

Sue is passionate about making a difference in how the community and Nurses experience the healthcare system.

Explore this port of call:

Sail into the Caribbean seaport of Colón and grab a good spot on deck so you can take in the view. What a picture it is. Behold the Atlantic Ocean entrance to the famous Panama Canal. Born from a desire to get to California (and its Gold Rush) as fast as possible, this industrious town was the last stop on the 19th century Panama Railroad. It’s now home to Canal Zones, U.S. military bases and of course, beauty.

Your breathtaking adventure begins with a pickup from the pier and a relaxing private drive through the wonderful Costa Rican countryside on an air-conditioned recent model minibus. Your guide will point out many sights of interest including mango trees, coffee plants, sugar and citrus plantations, diverse fruit stands and rural farming communities. You will be heading to the Central Pacific Coast, Tarcoles River and Vista Los Sueños Adventure Park. Upon arrival to our beautiful property, you will have some free time to use restrooms and explore the surroundings before starting the adventure.

Embark on an exhilarating adventure through the lush Costa Rican rainforest on our Zip Line Canopy Tour, gliding from platform to platform along a series of sturdy cables. Our property boasts spectacular views of Herradura Bay and Island and the Nicoya Gulf. You will be heading to Villa Lapas Reserve & Eco Hotel, about a 1-hour drive from the pier. Upon arrival to the beautiful property, you will have some free time for use restrooms and explore the surroundings before beginning the rainforest nature walk and enjoy crossing the Hanging Bridges. Experience the beauty of the rainforest through our Villa Lapas Sky Way walking tour 1.5 miles (2.5 km) in length, and 3 suspended bridges at more than 180 feet above the ground. Each of these bridges is an astonishing 300 feet in length, crossing through the very heart of the tropical rainforest. This all-ages tour lets you observe the primary and secondary rainforest vegetation. Make yourself one with the jungle. Keep your eyes open to see the numerous bird species, mammals and other varied fauna that call this forest home.

The nature walk lasts about one hour and includes areas with some steep, uneven terrain. This walk is not recommended for passengers with limited mobility.

After your rainforest experience, enjoy complementary tropical fresh fruits and ice tea before continuing your journey to Tarcoles River. Famous for its large American Crocodiles, the Tarcoles River forms the Northern border of Carara Biological Reserve on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The Tarcoles River is home to one of the world’s largest crocodile populations in the wild and they are very easy to admire during our one-hour boat ride. Besides crocodiles, many aquatic bird species, monkeys & scarlet macaws are easy to see.

Continuing our tour, you will visit El Jardin Souvenir Store & Restaurant. This is a beautiful souvenir store and art gallery with excellent products. At this place, free time is allowed for shopping and lunch (included).

Before returning to the pier, you will visit Puntarenas City. This is the largest city in the Central Pacific. Puntarenas offers visitors and locals alike a variety of tantalizing fresh seafoods such as shrimp, lobsters, fish, and more. A lively and attractive city, perhaps one of Puntarenas’s most interesting features is the Paseo de los Turistas. This is a tree-lined promenade adjacent to the beach. This area turns into a colorful street on weekends, as people from all over flock the popular restaurants, discos, cafes, bars and hotels that are found here. While the beach here is not safe for swimming because the water tends to be pretty murky, it is still a great place to hang out and relax with the local Ticos. It is definitely worth exploring this city, as there are many beautiful old unusual buildings found all over the place, as well as several fabulous restaurants and hotels. Puntarenas also has a lovely old church, which is a must see as well.

Private Antigua Guatemala Highlights (Includes Lunch):

For this tour we have booked private Toyota coaster vehicles, as these are faster and can move in the narrow streets in Antigua better thatn a large coach, saving time and walking distance.

Antigua was founded in 1543 in the valley of Panchoy for Francisco de la Cueva. It is surrounded by magnificent volcanoes Water, Fuego and Acatenango, silent guardians of an exquisite architectonic inheritance of the 16th and 17th centuries.

Our Cultural Walking Tour is a journey through our history visiting ruins, churches, markets and museums; in this city the stories and legends of the colonial times are still present along with the old paved streets.

Itinerary:

At our arrival at the pier, we will transfer to Antigua, taking about 2 hours. Upon your arrival you will enjoy a walking tour of Antigua, visiting the main square, main cathedral, The Arch Street, La Merced Church and the Jade Factory Museum. After this we will have a delicious lunch (included).

Private Puerto Vallarta Highlights (Includes Lunch):

If you have never been to Puerto Vallarta before, this little tour is a nice introduction to this beautiful city. While Puerto Vallarta is not a historical hub so to speak, our city sightseeing tour will give you a quick overview of what Puerto Vallarta looks like, a chance for a little bit of shopping, some very nice tropical scenery, and a taste of the local flavor.

We’ll start at Marina Vallarta and work our way south with a drive down the famous boardwalk, or malecon, and get a look at some of the many statues lining the water, such as the sea horse statue, and other popular photo opportunities.  We’ll visit the main points of interest such as  El Palacio Municipal (City Hall), the main plaza and other city landmarks, such as the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe (the Church of Our Lady of  Guadalupe), and the flea market area.

Leaving Vallarta, we continue south along the Bay and up to the residential zone of Conchas Chinas. We then stop for a photo op to enjoy the wonderful view overlooking Los Arcos and the town of Mismaloya, famous for the filming of “The Night of the Iguana” starring Richard Burton. Here you can also browse a selection of Mexican handicrafts.

We will stop at a tequila factory, where you will learn about the process by which tequila is made, how to drink tequila like a Mexican, and will have a chance to taste different varieties you never knew existed! Here you will also have an exquisite lunch if you decide to take the Add-On, which we totally recommend!

Prices include exclusive conference activities, selected cabin accommodation, meals, unlimited drinks, speciality dining vouchers, entertainment, gratuities, fees and taxes. Guest price includes all of the above with the exception of the seminar fee. Gratuities, fees and taxes are subject to change without notice. A non-refundable deposit of $400 per person is due at time of booking with the balance payable by 4th November 2024.

Cancellation Penalties and Disclosure:
